Jason provides advice-only planning to hard-working Canadians in or near retirement and caregivers of a loved one with a disability. Most of his clients enjoy maintaining control of their investment portfolio but want an unbiased expert to help them think, plan, and feel more peace about their future.
Prior to founding his advice-only practice, Jason worked with high-net-worth clients in the traditional assets under management model. He decided to make the switch to spend more time focusing on impactful tax planning, cash flow, and retirement planning strategies with DIY investors. Low fee, evidence-based investing paired with expert advice-only financial planning is a win-win for Jason and his clients. The meaningful conversations about life and goals are a pretty fulfilling part of his days. His clients stay in the driver’s seat, and Jason is simply the guy checking their blind spots.
Before stepping into financial planning full time, Jason served 17 years with the RCMP. His investigative instinct never left as he still digs into the evidence and tracks the details while happily nerding out over financial projections.
Life doesn’t always follow a linear A to Z path as Jason’s own family and many of his clients have experienced the plot twists firsthand. Those experiences shape the way he supports people today with clarity, calm, and financial plans that can bend without breaking.
In addition to retirement planning, Jason has experience with the RDSP, Disability Tax Credit, Henson Trust planning and Provincial/Territorial support coordination for caregivers and their relatives with a disability.
When he's not running retirement projections, you can find Jason either at a hockey rink with his boys or breathing fresh northern air while hiking with his wife and Golden Retriever.
