TONY MAHABIR – is a Professor of Finance & Management Studies within the Faculty of Business at Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning for The Bachelor of Commerce & Finance degree programs. He lectures on numerous courses: Managerial Accounting, Enterprise Resource Management, Business Communications, The FP Canada approved Advanced Certified Financial Planning course, Retirement Planning, Risk Management and Estate Planning programs. Beyond the classroom, he is a Director of CANFIN Private Wealth (a Portfolio Manager for High Net Worth & Affluent Clients) and CEO of CANFIN Wealth Management an entity that delivers comprehensive and integrated wealth management and financial planning services. Tony believes that we all have a role to play beyond work, if we want a better profession. He does his part by serving as: The Chair for The Canadian Institute of Financial Planning (CIFP), Director for The Society of Real Wealth Managers (RWM), and by serving as president of CIFA, a Geneva based global voice for The Convention of International Financial Advisors which has general consultative status with the United Nations on economic and social development issues. These unique opportunities allow him to learn from wealth professionals around the world while also promoting a Canadian perspective on the evolving Financial Planning profession in our country. In 2012, Tony became the recipient of FP Canada Fellow Distinction, which formally recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to furthering FP Canada’s mandate to lead the advancement of professional financial planning in Canada.
