After 15+ years in the financial industry, I kept seeing the same pattern: families being sold products they didn’t need, or charged fees based on the size of their portfolio rather than the quality of the advice. People were unsure what to do with their money, confused by tax rules, and anxious about the future — not because their situation was hopeless, but because no one had looked at the whole picture.
I built Signal Financial Planning to change that.
I provide advice-only planning for Canadians. I don’t sell investments, insurance solutions, or any other financial product. I don’t earn commissions or referral fees. You pay a transparent fee, agreed in advance, and I work as a fiduciary — your goals come first.
My clients are at different stages of the same problem: money that feels fragmented.
• Retirees who need tax-efficient withdrawals, a smart approach to CPP and OAS, and confidence their wealth will last
• Near-retirees lining up income, taxes, and timing so the transition isn’t a guess
• Young professionals balancing student debt, a first home (including the FHSA), and early investing
• Self-employed people and business owners trying to get cash flow, taxes, and retirement contributions working together
• New families building an RESP and a budget that fits real life
• Households juggling several goals at once — education, travel, a home upgrade — who want one plan instead of five disconnected tips
While most clients prefer a Comprehensive Financial Plan — taking them from discovery through a written, prioritized plan they can actually implement, some people opt for a Signal Session. It’s a focused meeting when you need a second opinion or help on a specific decision or question.
Either way, the work is practical: RRSP, TFSA, RESP, and FHSA strategy; retirement income and government benefits; cash flow and debt optimization; tax and estate considerations; and a clear next step.
Financial peace isn’t about having the most money. It’s about having a plan.
If you’re tired of guessing, we should talk.
